Smact
A smarter, cleaner oral care system for modern hygiene. Proposal concept, product design, naming and branding development for a reinvented toothpaste system.
Client: Original concept developed as a self-initiated design challenge.

Brief: As part of a self initiate design challenge, I was exploring to create a new brand and packaging concept for a tube of toothpaste. This included brand identity, packaging design, market positioning, and innovation. While exploring the market, I identified a key gap: most toothpaste products—traditional or modern—still rely on shared tubes, overlooking hygiene risks in shared households.
Approach: Rather than redesigning a tube, I eliminated it entirely.
Smact is a compact oral care system where each user has their own sealed dispenser and smart toothbrush head to prevent cross-contamination. The dispenser uses a plunger-style pump to deliver clean, pre-measured doses, holding 30 doses per dispenser. Refills come in recyclable pouches with 90 doses, matching the dentist-recommended brush replacement cycle every 3 months.
The Starter Pack includes one dispenser, one smart brush head, and a refill pouch. Refill Packs contain a replacement brush head and refill pouch. Kits are designed for purchase through pharmacies or online via subscription, allowing users to refresh flavours and brush colours every cycle. Branding combines Smile + Smart + Compact, featuring a custom logo with a toothbrush-inspired “m” and a modular pastel colour palette linked to six unique flavours. Packaging is designed for hygiene, mess-free use, zero waste, and portability—ideal for travel.
Smact is more than toothpaste—it’s a hygienic, sustainable, and smart oral care system made for modern lifestyles.
